Growing Independence in Our Toddler Room

As your child grows, develops and becomes more mobile they progress into the toddler room. Being a toddler is often a busy time, with children reaching large developmental milestones, learning boundaries and developing personal, social and emotional skills. We promote independence and personal choice through our continuous provision.

We continue to promote the prime areas of the EYFS while children begin to develop in the specific areas of learning. Focused activities, including toddler talk and Phase One letters and sounds, are planned around each child's individual developmental needs.

Through focused planning and high-quality educational programmes, we help children build their vocabulary from around 50 words on entering the toddler room to around 300 words by the time they leave. Parents receive a home communication book, daily one-to-one updates, 2-year-old packs, toddler talk packs and access to extra activities such as football classes and mini movers (dance) sessions.
